Light yellow colored solution with light viscosity containing doxycyclin hyclate equal to 100mg doxycycline in each ml.

The active substance of Bio-Doxy 10% Oral Solution is semi-synthetic tetracycline derivative of doxycycline. In general, the antibiotics within tetracycline group are well effective on gram positive aerobes (Bacillus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes and Streptococci), Gram negative bacteria (Actinobacillus sp., Bordetella sp., Francisella tularensis, Haemophilus sp., Pasteurella multocida, P haemolytica, Yersinia sp., Campylobacter fetus, Borrelia sp. and Leptospira sp. Moraxella bovis)
anaerobes (Actinomyces sp., Fusobacterium sp.) and Mycoplasma sp., Chlamydia sp., Ehrlichia sp., Coxiella burnetti, Ehrlichia, Eperythrozoon. Due to acquired resistance its effect on Staphylococci, Enterococcus, Enterobacter sp., Enterobacter sp. within Enterobacteriaceae family, E. coli, Klebsiella sp., Proteus sp., Salmonella sp., Bacteroides sp. and Clostridium sp. among anaerobe bacteria, is variable.
Mycobacterium sp., Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia sp., Mycoplasma bovis and M. hyopneumoniae are considered to be resistant to tetracyclines.
Its effect mechanism is based on inhabitation of protein synthesis by reversibly bonding to 30S and 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes. Compared to other tetracyclines, doxycycline is more lipophilic, it dissolves well in oil, it binds to proteins at high levels (90%) and its half-life is long (15-22 hours). When administered to chicks orally on 10mg/kg live weight basis, it is rapidly absorbed at efficient levels. Peak plasma concentration is 4.46 +/- 0.16 microgram/mL and it reaches peak concentration level within Cmax 1.73 +/0.06 hours. Half-life is 4,6 hours in birds and 9.8 hours in calves. Oral bioeffectiveness is determined as 41-73.4%. Doxycycline is metabolized and eliminated mainly through stool as inactive metabolites.

Bio-Doxy 10% Oral Solution is used to treat bacterial infections in calves, broiler chicken and turkeys.
In calves, it is used for bacterial originated diarrhea, coli-septicemia, bronchopneumonia, polyarteritis, calf diphtheria and umbilical cord infections. In broiler chicks and turkeys, it is used for bacterial originated diarrheas, colisepticemia, CRD complex, air sack infections, salpingitis, cholera, coryza and staphylococci infections.

Bio-Doxy 10% Oral Solution is used by adding into drinking water on 20mg/kg live weight dose basis in broiler chicks and turkeys. If otherwise is not recommended by veterinary doctor, daily 20m1 Bio-Doxy 10% Oral Solution is administered for 100kg/live weight. Treatment duration is 5 days.
This dose is 'I ml for 10kg live weight in calves. In 100m1 dispenser containers, the dispenser pumps out 1 ml for every push. Consequently, the amount obtained with 5 pumps for a 50kg calf is administered by adding into quarter liter (2 tea glasses) of drinking water. In calves, daily dose should be divided into two with 12 hour intervals. Drug application should last for 3-5 days depending on the course of the infection.

It is sold at veterinary clinics and pharmacies with veterinarian prescription. (VHR- Veterinary Doctor Prescription)
