Light yellow colored non sterile solution containing tilmicosin phosphate equal to 250mg tilmicosin in each ml.

Bio-Tilmox Oral Solution contains tilmicosin which is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic. Tilmicosin is used in cattle to treat pneumonic infections due to its high affinity especially in liver tissue. The effect mechanism of Tilmicosin is the same as antibiotics, it is based on inhibiting the peptide translocation by bonding to 50S ribosomal subunit in bacteria and blocking the protein synthesis this way. Gram positive microorganism and some gram negative microorganisms such as Pasteurella haemolytica, Haemophilus somnus, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma gallicepticum, M. Synovia, Mycoplasma dispar, Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale are sensitive to Tilmicosin. E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella and Serratia spp and Actinomyces sp. are resistant.
As in other macrolide antibiotics, Tilmicosin has high tissue distribution in spite of low serum concentration. Peak plasma level of Tilmicosin after being administered orally to broilers on 75mg/I basis for 3 days, is measured as 10pg/ml. 48 hours after application, lungs tissue concentration is determined as 2.3pg/ml and air sack concentration is determined as pg/ml.

Bip-Tilmox Oral Solution is used to treat respiration system infections in broiler chickens and turkeys caused by Mycoplasma gallicepticum, M. Synovia, Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Pasteurella multocida and other microorganisms which are sensitive to tilmicosin.

The dose of Tilmicosin in broiler chicken and turkeys is 15-20 mg/kg live weight per day. For 1000kg of live weight, 60-80m1 drug is added into the drinking water as daily dose. Treatment duration is 3 days. Drugged water should be prepared freshly every day.
