In the unit vial, as a sterile powder that is ready for liquidation, it contains ampicilline sodium that is equal to 330 mg ampicilline activity and sulbactam sodium that is equal to 165 mg sulbactam activity. With each vial, 2 ml solvent ampoule containing 0.5 % lidocaine HCI solution is available. When the unit vial is liquidated with the 2 ml solvent ampoule, each 0.5 ml of the occurring 2.50 ml solution contains 33 mg sulbactam and 66 mg ampicilline.

SULBASIN is a preparation for injection of ampicilline sodium that is a semi synthetic antibacterial as well as sulbactam sodium that is a beta- lactamase inhibitor, which is oriented only to in-muscle application.
Ampicilline sodium is one of the most widely used penicillin assortments and it is chemically D (-) α aminobenzyle penicillin sodium. When compared with penicillin G, ampicilline is 4 to 8 times more active against the gram negative bacilli, 50 times more resistant against acid. Ampicilline is effective against many of the gram- positive and gram- negative bacteria but not resistant to β –lactamase. Sulbactam sodium is a penicillin nucleus derivative and chemically sodium peniclinate sulphone. It has limited antimicrobial activity but, as irreversible and non –competitive, it inhibits various β –lactamase. Style of effect: it is resistant against many antibiotics and it is constituted by the β –lactamase that degrade without showing its effect on the antibiotic bacteria. The sulbactam covered by Sulbasin inhibits the β –lactamase and deactivates the defence mechanism and ampicilline, without any prevention, allows the demonstration of bactericide effect by inhibiting the mucopeptite biosynthesis on the cell walls of the microorganisms that are sensitive in the active multiplication period. When this synergic component come across ampicilline alone, it covers more aerobes or even anaerobes and provides increasing antibacterial spectrum. Sulbactam does not have effect on ampicilline- sensitive strains against the ampicilline activity.
Its effect spectrum is as follows: it has a very good effect on the gram positive bacteria including the S. aureus that produces beta lactamase. In addition, including the strains that are resistant to ampicilline, it is effective against Actinobacillus sp.,, Bordetella sp., Haemophilus sp, and Pasteurealla sp.'s it is generally sensitive toward E. coli and Klebsiella sp., Proteus sp. and Salmonella sp. It is sensitive for many of the anaerobe bacteria that also include Bacteroides fragilis. However, its effects on E. coli and Klebsiella sp may from time to time vary. It is resistant to Citrobacter sp., Enterobacter sp., Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Serratia sp., and meticiline; and Staph. Aureus is resistant to this combination.
Ampicilline serum levels obtained through the application of the ampicilline sodium/ sulbactam sodium combination resemble the ampicilline serum levels that are obtained through using the ampicilline alone. The ampicilline /sulbactam combination completely penetrates into the saliva, middle ear liquid, peritonsils abscess and bronchial secretion. Ampicilline combines with the serum proteins as reversible at the rate of approximately 28 % while sulbactam does it at approximately 38 %. Half life of the composition in the domestic animals is approximately one hour. It is mainly discharged by the urine.

SULBASIN 0.33 g. Injection Solution is effective in all the infections formed by the ampicilline sensitive microorganisms and it is also effective to the infections by many of the microorganisms that excrete β- lantanas.
SULBASIN 0.33 g. Injection Solution is effective in treatment in foal, dogs, and cats against the infections of digestion system, respiratory system, urinary tract, skin, soft tissue, and joint infections resulting from the sensitive bacteria. It was shown that the ampicilline + sulbactom combination has synergic effect in the respiratory tract infections that take place in the Klebsiella pneumonia in the foals.

In the cases that it is not recommended by the veterinary otherwise, following dose chart is applied.
SULBASIN 0.33 g. Injection Solution is applied in the muscles. The dose in the foals, dogs, and cats is 3.3 mg sulbactam and 6.6. mg ampicilline / kg / live weight / day. These amounts are obtained as follows:
Each 0.5 ml of the 2.5 ml solution obtained by liquidating by per vial 2 ml solvent ampoule contains 33 mg sulbactam and 66 mg ampicilline. Unless otherwise recommended by the veterinary, in practice, the following dose table can be utilized
