1 g powder is a homogeneous powderfor solution, easily dissolved in water, with fine particles, odorless, light yellow colored, containing 240mg Colistin Sulfate (equal to 4.800,000 IU colistin base).

Colistin Sulfate, which is the active substance of Bio-Col Powderfor %24 Oral Solution, is a polypeptide structured antibiotic obtained from Bacillus colistinus culture. It shows a strong bactericidal activity causing significant functional corruption in the structure of phospholipids located on the cell membrane of the bacteria. Colistin is effective on gram negative bacteria. It is mainly effective on gram negative bacteria (such as E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp, Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritis). Resistant to Proteus and Serratia. When administered orally in form of solution, it is not absorbed from digestion channel. When administered orally, it is distributed to the digestion channel and eliminated mainly through excretion. They show synergistic interaction Chloramphenicol, tetracyclines and sulfonamide+trimethoprin combinations.

Bio-Col 24% is used to treat digestion system infections caused by strains sensitive to colistin sulfate in chickens.

If it is not recommended other otherwise:
PHARMACOLOGICAL DOSE:
For chicken: 120.000 lU/kg live weight/day (6mg/kg/day)
PRACTICAL DOSE:
On Chicken: for 1000kg live weight, 25g Bio-COL 24% is used by adding into daily drinking water.
Treatment duration is between 3-4 days, if any improvement is not seen within the first 3 days on clinical table, bacteria sensitivity should be checked by re-performing antibiogram test.
