It is a yellowish colored dissolvable viscous powder containing 800 mg oxytetracycline HCL in each gram.

Bio-OTC 80% Powder for Oral Solution is a broad spectrum antibiotic with oxytetracycline as active substance and derivative of tetracycline. It shows bacteriostatic effects on many gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It binds to the receptor in the 30S subunit of the bacteria ribosome, it prevents the aminoacid tRNA to bind to the acceptor in the mRNA ribosome and as any new amino acid is not bounded to the peptide chain, it inhibits the protein synthesis. The effect of the oxytetracycline on the bacteria is as follows;

It is effective at good level on gram positive aerobic bacteria (Bacillus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes and Streptococci.) gram positive bacteria (Actinobacillus sp., Bordetella sp., Francisella tularensis, Haemophilus sp., Pasteurella multocida, Yersinia sp., Campylobacter fetus, Borrelia sp. and Leptospira sp.) anaerobic bacteria (Actinomyces sp., Fusobacterium sp.) and Chlamydia sp. Ehrlichia sp., Coxiella burnetti and Anaplasmosis. Due to acquired immunity, its effect on Staphylococcus sp, Enterococcus sp., Enterobacter sp., E. coli, Klebsiella sp., Proteus sp., Salmonella sp., Bacteroides sp., and Clostridium sp. is variable.
It is considered to be resistant to Pr. Vulgaris, Ps. Aeroginosa, C. jejuni, Staph. Aureus, Serratia sp., M. bovis, M.hyopneumoniae, Mycobacterium sp., Strep. Faecalis, Bac. Fragilis tetracycline sp.

When administered orally, it is distributed through whole body by being rapidly absorbed at high concentration and its half-life in blood is between 6-8 hours for different types of animals. To maintain the effective blood concentration, application should be repeated with 12 hour intervals. It passes through pleura, peritoneum and cerebrospinal fluid at effective concentrations. It builds up in liver, spleen, prostate, ballast and urine. Its pharmacokinetic profile is important for the treatment of systemic infections. Oxytetracycline is mainly eliminated through excretion and through ballast at lower rates. Therefore it is quite effective on urinary system and liver infections. The portion which was eliminated through ballast, is re-absorbed through intestines and enters to the enterohepatic circulation.

Bio-OTC 80% Powder for Oral Solution is used for the below mentioned infections at broiler turkeys and chickens caused by bacteria sensitive to oxytetracycline.
On chicken and turkey: Chronic respiration system disease (M. gallicepticum), Ornithosis (Chlamydia psittaci), Infectious Synovitis (M. synovia), Cholera (P multocida).

When not otherwise recommended by veterinary doctor;
For chicken and turkey, daily 250 gram Bio-OTC %80 Powder for Oral Solution is used for every 1000 kg live weight practically on 20 mg/kg live weight/day basis. The required amount is used by adding into the daily drinking water of animals. It is recommended to keep animals dehydrated 2-3 hours before the drugged water application. Drugged water should be prepared freshly everyday.
